Lenzing Instruments at the Index 2020
Nonwovens testing instruments

28.02.2020 At the Index, Lenzing Instruments GmbH & Co. KG, a member of the Textechno Group, Gampern/Austria, will show nonwovens testing instruments for various applications at the Index 20 in Geneva/Switzerland, which has been postponed to October 20-23, 2020. For the nonwovens industry, a wide portfolio provides solutions for income control of raw material, product quality control of the finished goods as well as process control of the moving nonwovens web. The company is also a high-end producer of equipment for online, at-line and laboratory testing of filament yarn and staple fiber.

Essential material tests for nonwovens topsheet (coverstock) aimed for hygienic applications include verification of performance indicators such as liquid strike-through, rewet and run-off. These areas are covered by Lister AC, Wetback and Runoff. INDA/Edana standardized function and design ensures accurate and reproducible feedback on the fluid management of the nonwovens sample.
In-depth analysis of fluid transport processes such as liquid absorption, liquid retention and liquid loss in textile structures is provided by CAP 100. By means of advanced camera and illumination technology, CAP 100 gives continuous and real-time information about the wicking characteristics of a nonwoven or woven material. The time-based measurement of the capillary rise is combined with a simultaneous determination of the amount of absorbed liquid over time.
In line with the rising usage of nonwovens wipes for hygienic and cleaning purposes, the necessity of reliable flushability verification has become of vital importance in order to maintain the functionality of sewage systems. By means of mechanical oscillations of nonwoven samples surrounded by water, the Slosh Box 100 and Flush 100 allow for an estimation of the disintegration potential and the behavior of the material in a gravity sewer. Slosh Box 100 provides information for correct flushability labelling of the finished product, whereas Flush 100 serves for quick assessment of flushability characteristics for the purpose of process or product modifications. The realization of set quality criteria for raw material staple fiber is guaranteed by applying Vibroskop 500, Vibrodyn 500 and Vibrotex 400 for income control of titer (dtex, den), tenacity and elongation as well as the crimp characteristics of single fibers. In combination with the versatile and flexible software program, these fiber testing instruments feature a very good tool both for regular quality control as well as for research and development applications.
The company’s customer-tailored systems guarantee real-time access to measurement results by means of the latest communication technology.
The Nonwovens Orientation System NOS 300 offers online and continuous monitoring of the fiber orientation along and across the nonwovens web. The ratio of fibers in the respective web direction gives indirect information about the tensile strength of the nonwovens. Additionally, monitoring of the fiber orientation ratio yields information about the homogeneity of the web.
