Effective April 1, 2021 Thomas Gangl is the new CEO of the manufacturer of polyolefins Borealis AG, Vienna/Austria.
Following the acquisition of the majority shares in Borealis by OMV AG, Vienna, and the intensified and close cooperation between OMV and Borealis, the Supervisory Board of Borealis has decided to appoint the Executive Board member of OMV AG, Thomas Gangl as CEO of Borealis.
Alfred Stern stepped down as CEO of Borealis. He has successfully led Borealis’ transformation from a virgin polyolefins producer to a leading provider of advanced and circular polyolefin solutions, and an European market leader in the mechanical recycling of plastics. He was appointed Executive Board member for Chemicals & Materials of OMV AG.
