The manufacturer of synthetic fibers and yarns, RadiciGroup, Grandino/Italy, is cooperating with local companies in the Bergamo region to set up a reliable and approved production chain of highly needed protective equipment for medical use.
The collaboration has granted RadiciGroup access to 10,000 m of nonwovens laminated by Plastik SpA, Albano Sant’Alessandro/Italy. Due to a special film these materials are breathable, anti-bacterial and therefore resistant to infective agents. Tests of the material for medical use were performed and validated at Centrocot, the center for cotton textile and clothing in Busto Arsizio/Italy. Local small garment makers immediately became engaged in the production of the garments according to the specifications for hospital PPE currently in use provided by Papa Giovanni XXIII Hospital in Bergamo.
